It's the flash + the long exposure. With the flash The leaf was 'frozen' and illuminated. With the long exposure the lead had time to move on and leaf a weaker 'trail'. Also the sunlight 'erased' some a bit of the leaf. Hope that's understandable
Yes that's it ^^ For example if you take a shot of a person in front of a sundown. Then you got 3 options: 1) Shoot with flash - You will see the person bright against a dark to black background because the weak light of the sundown can't be captured 2) Without flasch - Will require longer exposure time. You will see the silhouette against a beautiful sundown. But no detail of the person because the light was coming from behind him. 3) Combine it - Then eventually such effects as in this one will occur
Unfortunately not all cameras will support the third option.
Well.. now I'm confused too I think it's kinda full flash just with a exposure time near to the time which would have been needed without flash. So the flash brightens up the near part and the long exposure the background. Of course everything is then made a bit darker in the camera because otherwise it would be too bright. At least it's what I think how it works
How does that happen?

I was positive surprised how it turned out
Took a couple of shots before with unsatisfying results
